The battle of the coaching inn

We had another game yesterday, the Khornate and Slaaneshi warbands clashed in an attempt to destroy a coaching inn that troops sent from the Empire to reinforce the city of Praag could use as a staging point.

The warband of Khorne, as you can see, is substantially larger than the Slaanesh one, so it ended up taking care of most of the imperial troops defending the inn.

I was GMing the battle, so I could take a decent amount of pictures to show how the game went.

The forces of Khorne

The warband of Slaanesh

The inn with its defenders

A view of the battlefield

The warband of Slaanesh sent some scouts to check for Imperial reinforcements

The same was done by their opponents, these are the scouts sent by the champion of Khorne

The followers of Khorne advance quickly towards the defenders

The centaur champion starts outflanking the inn under the waving tentacles of a chaos spawn springing from a neraby well

The warband of Slaanesh advances as fast as it can

Khorne charges in

The imperial scouts leave the protection of the inn to harass their counterpart from the Khornate warband joining the fight after their exploration

Slaanesh rushes in to join the fight at the inn

Imperial cavalry reinforcements come in at the back of the followers of Khorne

The champion of Slaanesh is in position for a charge

The fight at the inn in full swing

Forces of Khorne turn around to stop the advancing light cavalry

The last few defenders get surrounded by the followers of the two chaos powers

The former Bretonnian levies leave the inn as it starts to burn

As the imperial helbardiers are massacred, the two warbands battle it out to the last few beastmen.

In the end Khorne carried the day, but the centaur champion Hoof didnèt get any new followers.

Thatès all until the next battle.

Another Chaos warband game

We had another game with the Chaos warbands.

This time it was an exploration of the chaos wastes in search of treasures, with the chance of random monsters appearing from terrain features. I didn't participate as a player, but run the random monsters appearing on the table.

The battlefield

Doyle's Slaanesh warband was immediately greeted by a Daemonette, but the champion didn't manage to get control over her and had to run away to avoid a close encounter he might not survive.

Max's dwarf champion of Nurgle with all his spawns run into a chaos giant that killed the newly recruited hobgoblin and the beastman standard bearer, but was finally brought down by the champion.

Cyrus' Khornate warband, with the advantage a several mutated and very fast troops, run directly for his arch rival, the champion of Slaanes, finding some treasures in the process, including a daemon weapon of Slaanesh that he could not touch. The two warbands ended up fighting it over and Khorne had the final word in the discussion.

Overall a very good game, now the other warbands start to be pretty interesting and the various confrontations less predictable.

The build up towards the siege of Praag continues.

Silent Death

In the past few weeks, with Dave and Garner, we tried a few games of Silent Death.

My brother got a set back in the days and I painted the ships back in 2017 and now, only 6 years later, I finally got to use them.

The game is far from perfect, but nice enough for a night of entertainment once in a while.

I only took a few pictures in the two games I played, overall it is not the most eye candy of games.

2 Vs 2 chaos warbands game

Last game we played saw Khorne and Tzeentch warbands facing off versus those of Slaanesh and Nurgle.

The champion's patrons decided they wanted to see a display of power and obliged their followers to face off their hated foes.

The game was quite long and at the end Nurgle was victorious thanks again to his numerous very tough chaos spawns.

The battlefield with the warbands deployed

The warband of Nurgle, led by a chaos dwarf wizard and including 5 mighty chaos spawns

The followers of Tzeentch, Guillaume is starting to attract a good number of followers, 3 cultists led by a Marauder and 4 ogres swelled his ranks.

A new warband of Slaanesh took the field, composed by humans and chaos dwarfs

The battle unfolds

The Blasted standard of Tzeentch transformed the Marauder of Nurgle in a pseudo-daemon, but his new monstrous form didn't save him from the fury of the ogres and he died on the field of battle.

We should have a new game this weekend, but we still have to see how many warbands we will gather for the fight.

Realm of Chaos, another warbands game/Reami del Caos, un'altra partita con le warbands

This time it was a small affair between my Tzeentch champion Guillauma and Cyrus' Khorne one, I had to escape a subterranean cult temple and he was blocking my way.

I managed to pull it off and escape, but most of my troops were put out of action before my champion could escape with his disk.

My Tzeentch Balsted standard killed one of his orcs, but turned the other ones in mechanical monstrosities that are so tough it is almost impossible to fight them, luckily for me, seeing one of their number die was enough to have them run out of the door they were supposed to defend.

The Khorne champion charged, with his centaur retinue, my mounted Border horses, led by my Lvl 10 hero, but ended up being killed and losing his third point of Toughness in the injury phase, killing him for good. One of the centaurs took over and will now lead the warband.

My warband lost a couple of his members, but acquired a new group of cultists led by a marauder and 4 massive ogres that will definitely increase my warband's fighting abilities.

I only have 3 pictures of the initial setup, since the game was quite short.

The initial setup with the Khornate warband defending the exit of the temple.

The quite resilient beastmen blocking the exit.

My initial volley of bow fire inflicting a wound on one of the centaurs.

Realm of Chaos, towards the siege of Praag

The warbands gaming continues, I added another player to this casual gaming endeavor and now we have a representation of each of the ruinous powers.

Cyrus' warband of Khorne, The champion rides a horse, the followers are a group of 8 beastmen, 4 orcs and 3 chaos centaurs.

Doyle's followers of Slaanesh, the champion is a wizard and carries a bow, his followers are 2 bestmen, a lone cultist and a marauder.

My servants of Tzeentch, a champion on disk, 4 brigands carrying the warband's magic blasted standard (being modelled at the moment) and 3 border horses led by a Lvl 10 champion riding a chaos steed.

The fourth palyer, Max, rolled a warband of Nurgle, Chaos dwarf wizard champion with 5 chaos spowns, a marauder and a lonely beastman standard bearer, but we are still lacking appropriate models for him, so no picrure yet.

Last game was a lengthy free for all. The champions had found out that in a small village on the North of Praag, a small shrine of Myrmidia had a mysterious magical artefact in its custody, so they all headed in that direction to find if they could acquire said item, without specific knowledge on the occupants of the shrine and the nature of the item.

The four warbands start at each corner of the field, the building in the center is the shrine.

The brigands of Tzeench start advancing towards the center line, to intercent the followers of Khorne.

On the opposite corner the Khornate warband also advances as fast as it can.

The Champion of Tzeentch (the former Bretonnian Guillaume) speeds to the shrine only to be intercepted and stopped by the head monk who casts a wind blast in his direction.

Meanwhile the followers of Nurgle shuffle forwards, the chaos spawns don't seem to want to follow their master's orders.

When Guillaume decides to fly east away from the magi wind being thrown in his face, he finds himself dangerously close to the warband of Slaanesh which has been sneakily advancing on the eastern side of the field.

In a burst of lucidity, a big and fast chaos spawn runs into the shrine door and start bashing it down with bare fists.

In a quick and bloody fight, the border horses get rid of the Khornate centaurs and champion and chese them off the table.

The spawns seem to all wake up from their stupor and begin advancing in a semi-coordinated way towards the objective.

Guillaume decides to charge his Slaaneshi counterpart, not realizing that the apparently weak champion of Slaanesh had previously enhanced his fighting abilities with a Hammerhand spell and pays dearly for his mistake. He resists for a turn before being cut down.

Due to the mounting body count, all warbands, except for the Nurgle one decide to flee and save their skin instead of risk annihilation at the hands of the numerous stupid but too resilient spawns and daemon weapon wielding chaos marauder of Nurgle, so the Lord of Pestilence carries the day and steals the magical item.

The casualty rolls determine that the already very small warband of Slaanesh permanently looses one beastman and the chaos marauder, so Doyle decided to scrap it and roll a new one for next game.

The champion of Khorne suffer a second body wound, so his T is now 1, but he is undaunted and will keep fighting for the glory of the Lord of Skulls.

Guillaume is found to be just unconscious and will be ready for next fight.

Max's warband if Nurgle is victorious, so his champion will receive a new reward and new followers.

This week only me and Cyrus will be able to play a game, so it will be something more simple and I will try to document it with more and hopefully better pictures.
