Khorne Vs Khorne

We had a new session of Warbands fighting, but this time Cyrus rolled another warband and he chose to go for Khorne, so we ended up with a challenge to see who is the better servant of the Throne of Skulls.

We had two games, one in which we had to retrieve the content of a sarcophagus in an ruined temple in the Drakwald forest, the second in which my champion had to escort an occult tome to a cult secret temple, again, in the Drakwald forest and his champion was trying to steal it.

Here are few pictures to see how things went:

Cyrus' warband sets up in the ruins, the champion with a bunch of goblin bowmen protect the side of my entry, while a couple of brigands try to open the sarcophagus.

My warband is ready to attack, the champion, mounted on a horse and the useless chaos spawn in the center with the Skaven and Khornegor on the left flank and the brigands and Kislevites forming a mini unit on the right one.

The battlefield and the initial set up of the troops.

My warband advances under the ineffectual fire of goblin arrows.

The game ends with a charge from the goblins that ends up very poorly for them and Cyrus' champion, with the follow up of my warband overrunning the brigands and making short work of the too.

In the second game my warband is carrying a tome through the forest, while Cyrus' one ambushes it.

As my warband moves on the part through the forest, a figure clad in red and brass armour appears through a thicket of giant mushrooms.

My troops form an advancing fighting column with the pack mule in the centre attended by the skaven duo and the rest of the troops protecting the sides and rear.

The goblin archers (one was permanently lost in the previous game) spring the ambush shooting arrows on my troops.

Cyrus realizes that his champion "breathes fire" attribute is quite powerful, with a blast he kills a beastman and causes the unit to flee in panic.

After attempting to shot him with his crossbows, my champion decides to charge in and, although being wounded, he manages to put it out of action (they are now personal enemies).

The goblin bow fire is, this time, much more effective, they manage to shoot down both skaven, leaving the pack mule unattended.

Their luck runs out when they are charged by my brigands/Kislevites unit and completely killed.

The game ends with Cyrus' warband completely wiped out and me ending up permanently loosing both skaven, 1 kislevite, 1 brigand and 2 beastmen.

I score enough victory pointe so roll two new rewards and new followers, so now my warband has some beastmen reinforcements and some chaos cultists led by a Thug, unfortunately my quite powerful champion ends being crossbreed with a boar and seeing his stats greatly reduced, well, chaos gives, chaos takes away, it is part of the game.

Overall these both fun games, even if the first one was short.

Cyrus is slowly gathering victory points to reinforce his now tiny band, but his champion is pretty decent and would only need a bit more Toughness, or one more wound.

We will hopefully play again soon, and I'll have more to post about.

Cheers
